Online and Community Teaching Resources

There are many amazing teaching resources that we teachers use on a daily bases.

It would be great if we could take some of our favorites and share them with other teachers. Please add your resources if you are an editor or send a quick link to Dawn Anderson and she will write a quick summary and embed a link for you.

Leading Blogs:

Digital Literacy: Devon Stokes-Bennett has created this very detailed blog that focuses on outlining what Digital Literacy is and the background behind it,  it provides resources for fellow colleagues and  contains a list of Digital Literacy courses that are available for instructional purposes.

The Inquiry Hub School: This is a blog that was created by Dave Truss, a  leading educator and Vice-Principle in the Coquitlam School District.

Web links:

CBC Archives (link): Everyday I listen to CBC on my way to work and I think about how that episode could easily tie in to a humanities lesson, Planning 10 lesson or a Science Lesson, etc. The link above provides the page where you can look at past episodes from either the radio or TV and potentially incorporate them into your lessons.

Teacher Tube (link): There are many education videos that you could use to engage or support your students learning. In the top right hand corner of this page there is a search bar, just type the key concepts into it and press enter. Anything related to your topic will appear!! You can then save the address and incorporate.

*Side note if you use Keepvid to download videos, it will not download these.

Math Problems and Inquiry’s (Link):

Dan Meyer has developed many Math problems for students to solve. This is a resource that could be used as an inquiry approach to teaching, as review, or as an introduction to a new concept.

If you click on the link, then look to the right column and select under “My Curricula”, “Three-Act Math”, you will be taken to his Google page where many question exist for you to look at, adapt and potentially use in your Math class.

Career Cruising :

This is a fantastic resource for allowing students to explore careers and education. Please see Dawn, Debbie and Bonnie for the log in information.
